Old video of Lady Gaga, before she becomes famous
Music, Random Facts, Videos September 11th, 2010
I always wondered how Lady Gaga looked like without the make-up, rumors from the internet (according to her roomate) said she was a plain looking girl during her university days. Today, I found a video of Lady Gaga taken before she become famous, under her real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta.
Personally, I like Lady Gaga when she was Stefani more than now. But, it’s probably her current persona that made her famous now, cheers!
The New RapidShare Premium points system (RapidPro) explained!
Computers, Random Facts September 10th, 2010
This post is aimed for those of you that used Rapidshare.com Premium service account.

As some of you who might notice, Rapidshare has introduced a new plan called RapidPro that uses a point-system as opposed to the monthly subscription based scheme previously. This has caused confusion to the previous Rapidshare Premium account holders and potential users.
Unlike previous system that allow you to download as many files of any size in a given month, the new system instead tracks your downloads based on your data transfer (aka traffic) in a given month. In order to use RapidShare Premium for a period of 30 days with 30GB data transfer, you will need 99 Rapids (points).
What is Rapids (points)?
Rapids is your credits/points used in the new RapidShare Premium account. It costs 14 Rapids per 5GB downloads. So if you have 400 Rapids, it will allow you to download : (400/14)*5 = 28.57 * 5 = 147.85GB!
What if my Rapids runs out before my month is due?
You simply can’t download! You will need to ‘charge’ up your account to resume downloading at the rate of 14 Rapids per 5GB or 2.8 Rapids for 1GB.
What if I don’t exceed 99 Rapids (download <30GB), and my month is up?
Easy, you need to extend your account just like previously, for 99 Rapids per renewal. The remaining Rapids will be carried over to the next month. So it’s easy.
The new RapidShare system works just like ordinary {Hotlink, Xpax, DiGi} Prepaids plan! Your will have to top-up in order to talk, and if your months is up before you’ve got the chance to finish up the credit, just simply top up another RM10 to gain another month, with the previous balance carried over!
See? It’s easy! Go and get RapidShare Premium now!

The Homebrew Slim Jim Antenna Gain
Ham Radio, Hobbies, Random Facts June 10th, 2008
I’ve been searching for information regarding the radiation angle and the gain of slim jim antenna, but found none of it. So I decided to build the model of the antenna inside the ever useful MMANA-GAL software to get the information I needed myself.
From what I can surmise, the slim jim has a slightly lower radiation angle than vertical dipole antenna and is easier to mount, thus it is suitable to use for point-to-point communication VHF-UHF operation. It has a gain of about 2.8dBi-3.2dBi in free space and 4.8-5.8dBi when mounted at about 30feet from the ground. Here’s the result of MMANA-GAL :

Malaysian Petrol Budget Calculator for the new Petrol Price
Current Issues, Random Facts June 6th, 2008
I guess most people are already aware about the significant petrol hike in Malaysia recently. In place of the subsidy, the govt has given RM645 annually to car owners (below 2000cc) to reduce the burden of middle-class citizen. But can it cover the cost of petrol hike?

Download the application now : countpetrol.xls
Thankfully somebody took the time to create a spreadsheet application that can calculate the effect of the new subsidy scheme on the new petrol price, and how much you can save from it (if any!).

Fuel price increased in Malaysia, be prepared for recession
Current Issues, Random Facts June 5th, 2008
The inevitable is here, the government has finally decided to increase the fuel price effective 6 June 2008. The cost for a liter of petrol is RM2.70 compared to RM1.92 previously. This mean an increase of almost 50% on transportation cost .
To show how significant the price increase :
You need to spend RM30 now as opposed to RM20 for the same amount of car fuel everyday.
To add to the problem, the electric tariff has been revised, and due to effect in July. Our nation is heading towards economic recession, and I think its time to cut on unnecessary spending.
Save your money and save every penny of what you earn for the rainy days. Here’s a tip on how to counter the effect of the increasing fuel price : Tips Menangani Harga Minyak Naik Mendadak

Hi there people! I think most of this blog readers are familiar with half-wave antenna such as the 2 meter dipole I’ve built as a side project (with height about 1 meter by itself).
But do you know the height of the tallest and biggest half-wave antenna ever built in the world? is it 30 meters? 50 meters? 100 meters? Nope.. the answer is 646.38 m or 2,120.67 feet high when measured from its base on the ground.
Unlike other ordinary radio tower which is build to ensure you can put the antenna at the highest point, the Warsaw radio mast acts as a half-wave antenna itself!
It height 646.38 meter is the exact length of the frequency it was transmitting which is 225kHz, most probably using this formula
half-wavelength = 300/freq * 0.5 * velocity factor
= 300/0.225 * 0.5 * 0.97
= 646 meter.
As comparison, my homebrew half-wave antenna is only 0.996 meter in length, and is drastically dwarf by the Warsaw radio mast radiator.

Completed in 1974, the Warsaw radio mast transmit public broadcast radio station using 2 megawatts on 225kHz frequency. It was also the tallest structure in the world (recorded on Guinness Book of Records) until it finally collapse on 1991 due to maintenance crew failure.
Despite its collapse and inoperability for more than a decade. The Warsaw radio mast still remained the tallest/biggest (and the only longwave LF ) half-wave antenna ever build in the world,
Impressive isn’t it? Take a look at the antenna site in Wikimapia.
